Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) recently introduced H.R. 6011, the Right of Way Application and Transparency Accountability Act. This legislation addresses a significant bottleneck in the permitting process for energy projects on federal lands by requiring that federal agencies notify right-of-way applicants if their application is complete within 60 days. The Online Dating Safety Act is a bipartisan bill that would require dating apps and services to issue fraud ban notifications to users who have interacted with a person removed from the app. The Federal Trade Commission reported that romance scams resulted in victims losing $1.3 billion in 2022 alone.

Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate November 12, 2023, as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Awareness Day. Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare brain disease that causes a rapid decline in a person’s cognitive health, and often leads to death within only a few months to one year following the onset of symptoms. Longtime Bakersfield Mayor Harvey L. Hall passed away from CJD in 2018.

Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) joined representatives Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05) and Jim Costa (CA-21) to introduce H.R. 6012, the Fire Safe Electrical Corridors Act. The Fire Safe Electrical Corridors Act would allow the U.S. Forest Service to approve the removal of hazardous trees near power lines on federal land without requiring a timber sale, easing a serious threat that has in the past been a major cause of destructive wildfires.
