Valadao (CA-22) released the following statement after the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies reported out their Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 bill to the full House Appropriations Committee. Congressman Valadao is a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veteran Affairs, and Related Agencies.
“I’m proud that our bill fully funds the VA, veterans’ healthcare, and other critical veterans’ benefits programs,” said Congressman Valadao. “Despite what the President says, House Republicans are fully committed to funding the needs of our veterans. I look forward to working with my House colleagues to ensure our veterans have the resources they deserve and responsibly fund our government through the appropriations process.”
Background
The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Fiscal Year 2024 Appropriations Bill includes $337.9 billion in funding for the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and other related agencies. The legislation advanced today would fund $152.48 billion in discretionary spending for the Department of Veterans Affairs – an $18 billion dollar increase above fiscal year 2023 levels – and fully funds the Department’s budget request for this fiscal year.
