TUSCON, AZ – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-22) joined Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), and U.S. House Reps. Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Juan Ciscomani (AZ-6) for a border tour of some of the most dynamic border areas in the United States. This is Congressman Valadao’s third trip to the border under the Biden Administration.
“For too long, extremes on both sides of the aisle have prevented real progress on reforming our broken immigration system and securing our border,” said Congressman Valadao. “I appreciated hearing from Border Patrol Agents and local law enforcement about the challenges they’re facing on the ground. What we’re seeing at our border is a humanitarian and national security crisis, and record amounts of fentanyl are coming across our border and harming our communities. I’m committed to working with my colleagues to find commonsense solutions.”
During the trip, the lawmakers received an operational briefing from the US Border Patrol Tuscon Sector, toured the Raul Castro Land Port of Entry, and received an aerial tour from the Air and Marine Operations Tuscon branch. They also participated in a roundtable with local law enforcement for a discussion on how the border crisis is impacting local communities and met with the National Border Patrol Council.
