WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao released the following statement ahead of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day on April 24, 2022. Congressman Valadao is co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian issues
“On Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, we pause to remember the lives of the 1.5 million Armenians who were killed at the hands of the Ottoman Empire. As Americans, we have a responsibility to acknowledge the devastation felt by Armenian families impacted by this tragedy. The Central Valley is home to a proud Armenian American community, and I’m honored to bring awareness to the concerns of Armenian Americans in Congress.”
This week, Congressman Valadao joined colleagues to introduce the Armenian Genocide Education Act, legislation that would fund educational programs at the Library of Congress to educate Americans on the Armenian Genocide. Last year, Congressman Valadao led the efforts for President Biden to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide.
