Valadao Statement on Bureau of Reclamation’s Updated Central Valley Project 2021 Water Allocation
| Posted in Press Releases
“I am concerned and disappointed to learn of the Bureau of Reclamation’s decision to suspend the already low South-of-Delta 5% allocation,” said Congressman Valadao. “The Central Valley farming community has survived not only devastating drought conditions and burdensome regulations for decades, but also a global pandemic; however, our farms cannot survive without greater water allocations for South-of-Delta agriculture. Halting the allocation entirely is simply irresponsible. It is critical that allocations of California’s water supply reflect the needs of our farms so they may continue to produce the food our nation relies on.” Congressman Valadao Cosponsors Bipartisan Resolution Condemning Violence Against AAPI Community

We must do everything we can to ensure Asian-American and Pacific Islanders are welcomed and safe in their communities.” Congressman David G. "The Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Area Standards Review Committee’s proposed change to population thresholds would remove the status of the Hanford-Corcoran area as a Metropolitan Statistical Area,” said Congressman Valadao. “This proposal would deprive our community of vital statistical data used for city planning and economic development as well as limit access to certain grants and funds. I urge the Office of Management and Budget to reject this detrimental change.” Congressman David G. Valadao Joins Colleagues to Demand Continued Investigation into Vessel-Operating Common Carriers Stranding American Agricultural Exports
| Posted in Press Releases
“California produces more in agriculture exports than any other state, totaling nearly $22 billion in value in 2019, and our Central Valley farmers are especially key players in this sector of international trade,” said Congressman Valadao. “The failure of VOCCs to adhere to reasonable carrier practices threatens our local economy and the livelihoods of producers reliant on these ocean carriers. The Central Valley is proud to feed the world, and it is entirely unacceptable for these carriers to exploit American agriculture producers. Resolving this issue is critical to the prosperity of our nation’s agriculture industry, and I appreciate the Federal Maritime Commission’s continued investigation into this pressing matter.” Congressman David G. Valadao Co-Sponsors Farm Workforce Modernization Act

“As the son of immigrants and lifelong dairy farmer, I know firsthand how desperately our agriculture workforce needs meaningful reform,” said Congressman Valadao. “Many industries in the Central Valley rely heavily on immigrant labor. Our farm workers are absolutely critical to our collective mission of reliably feeding America, yet many live in fear due to an inability to gain legal status through our broken immigration system. Ensuring that our essential farm workers already in the states receive legal status, while also simplifying and streamlining the process for future farm workers to do the same, is just common sense.” Browse Documents by Date or Issue |
