Congressman David G. Valadao Requests Completion of Required Report on U.S. Equipment Abandoned in Afghanistan

  • House of Representatives
It is critical Congress is informed of all taxpayer funded property, equipment, and supplies abandoned in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in order to fully assess threats to our national security.

WASHINGTON — Last week, Congressman David G. Valadao joined several colleagues in requesting the U.S. Department of Defense complete its report to Congress concerning U.S. property left in Afghanistan following the August withdrawal. The deadline for this report, mandated by Congress in September, passed on December 29, 2021.

“The Administration’s failed U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan continues to raise concerns for the American people. It is critical Congress is informed of all taxpayer funded property, equipment, and supplies abandoned in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in order to fully assess threats to our national security,” said Congressman Valadao. “I urge Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to work with all relevant parties to comply with Congress’s mandate and provide this vital information immediately.”

The letter can be found here.
