WASHINGTON – United States Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement regarding an emergency aid package announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture today.
"There is no doubt farmers are struggling as a result of recently implemented tariffs, and while emergency aid is needed to help farmers withstand the downturn, what the agriculture industry really needs is access to foreign markets so our farmers can continue to feed the world while creating more jobs here at home."
In May, Congressman Valadao sent a letter
to United States Trade Representative, Mr. Robert. Lighthizer, expressing his grave concerns regarding broad tariffs. More information can be found here.
