Congressman Valadao released a statement regarding the California Water Commission's decision to withhold requested state funding for the proposed Temperance Flat Project, a damn to be located on the San Joaquin River.
HANFORD – Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement regarding the California Water Commission's recent decision to withhold requested state funding for the proposed Temperance Flat Project, a dam to be located on the San Joaquin River:
Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
“Central Valley farms, families, and entire communities continue to lack access to a clean, reliable water supply which is exactly why large-scale storage projects, such as the Temperance Flat Dam, are absolutely necessary. Despite severe water shortages throughout the state, and with complete disregard for the wishes of California voters, the California Water Commission has again acted to prevent funding for the proposed project, which, upon completion would more than double water storage on the San Joaquin River. The Commission’s refusal to fund critical water infrastructure projects is unacceptable and I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure the completion of the Temperance Flat Project.”
