KERMAN – Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21), joined by House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, toured the MEC Aerial Work Platforms facility in Kerman, California.
In addition to touring MEC Aerial Work Platforms facility and learning more about the company’s history, innovative approach to designing and manufacturing machines, and commitment to their community from MEC President David White, Congressman Valadao and Speaker Ryan had the opportunity to speak to employees about the impact tax reform will have on small businesses and families throughout the Central Valley.
“I appreciate Speaker Ryan traveling to my District to see how tax reform is already helping my constituents in California’s Central Valley,” Congressman Valadao stated. “Companies like MEC – who have been in our community for nearly two decades – are already seeing substantial growth and investment from the new law. As a result, MEC is able to reward their current employees and most importantly, have begun the process of creating new jobs right here in Fresno County in order to keep up with increased demand.”
MEC Aerial Work Platforms President, David White, referenced the impact of those policies and the importance of the Speaker’s visit, stating, “Because of the reform, not only did our 123 employees received a $1,000 bonus this year but the tax benefits to our customers’ businesses is creating more sales growth for us and more jobs for our community. Speaker Ryan and Congressman Valadao’s visit today gave our employees the opportunity to meet those representing them in our government. Our employees were able to hear from them about the commitment to US business growth and job creation through comprehensive tax reform. Speaker Ryan expressed appreciation for companies like MEC which continue to grow through innovation in the U.S. market and create job opportunities in the Central Valley. That makes all of us at MEC feel good about the jobs we are doing.”
“In just a short time, David Valadao has proven himself to be a tireless advocate for the Central Valley and one of the hardest working members of Congress. Thanks to him, workers are seeing bigger paychecks and the average family in his district will save nearly $1,700 because of the tax reform legislation that we passed last year. It was great to join him in Kerman to hear first-hand from a local business about how they are benefitting from this new law and to offer him my complete support,” stated House Speaker Paul Ryan.
As a result of pro-growth policies enacted by Congressman Valadao and the House of Representatives, MEC Aerial Work Platforms anticipates 200 percent growth over the six months following implementation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Such growth will allow the company to hire approximately thirty more employees in Fresno County.
25,731 taxpayers in CA-21 have small business income. The new law will help them grow and hire more workers. Economists predict tax reform legislation will create 111,108 new jobs in California alone.
As a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, more than 64,000 taxpayers in CA-21 will see a 100% increase from the Child Tax Credit which doubles from $1,000 to $2,000 per child. The average Californian will see an after-tax wage increase of $2,932 and the typical family in California’s Twenty First Congressional District will receive an annual tax cut of $1,699 as a result of the new law.
Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
