Hanford – This afternoon, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) announced the winners of the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for the 21st
The following is a list of this year’s winners:
• First Place: Brianna Ozuna; Hanford High School
• Second Place: Diana Valle; Hanford West High School
• Third Place: Ava Torres; South High School
In addition, this year, constituents from across the Valley were able to cast their vote online for their favorite piece of artwork. The "likes" on each photo were tallied to determine the "Fan Favorite" winner.
• Fan Favorite: Stefani Sanchez; Sanger High School
The winning artist’s work will be displayed for one year in the national exhibition located in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.
Congressman David G. Valadao stated, “I am excited to present the 2017 winners of the Congressional Art Competition and wish to congratulate Brianna Ozuna from Hanford High School for winning first place. The talent displayed by each participant is testament to the outstanding students we have in California's Twenty First Congressional District. It will be an honor to display their work in the U.S. Capitol and each of my Congressional Offices."
The second place winner will have their artwork displayed in Congressman Valadao’s Washington office, the third place winner will have their artwork displayed in his Hanford office, and the fan favorite will be displayed in his Bakersfield office.
Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District of California, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
