Valadao Issues Statement on Federal Water Legislation

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote twice on legislation including U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao's water legislation, H.R. 2898, the Western Water and American Food Security Act of 2015.

WASHINGTON, DC - This week, the United States House of Representatives is scheduled to vote twice on legislation including U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao's (CA-21) water legislation, H.R. 2898, the Western Water and American Food Security Act of 2015.

On Monday, Congressman Valadao stated,"Since coming to Congress I have relentlessly fought to secure a reliable water supply for the Central Valley. In fact, this weeks floor actions will be the fourth and fifth time my water legislation passes through the House of Representatives."He continued,"Farmers, families, and entire communities are suffering, and unnecessarily so. I look forward to going to conference with the Senate on both pieces of legislation so that we may provide our constituents with the drought relief they so desperately need.

On Tuesday, the House is scheduled to vote on the House amendment to S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2016, which will include H.R. 2898. In addition, the House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 5055, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017 which also includes provisions from H.R. 2898. 

Both pieces of legislation are expected to move to conference with the Senate.

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
