On Thursday, the Navy released a final Environmental Impact Statement, designating Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore as the “preferred alternative” over El Centro Naval Air facility as the home base for the Pacific Fleet’s F-35C Joint Strike. Following the announcement, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement:

“As a fiscal conservative, this makes sense. From a strategic perspective, this makes sense. This announcement is great for Lemoore and for our community as a whole as Lemoore plays a critical role in the economy of the Central Valley. This will inject much needed economic stimulus into a region severely suffering. I am excited to continue working with Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Base Commander Captain Monty Ashliman as we move forward.”

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
