WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers and the Peace Officers Researchers Association of California to urge action on H.R. 6448, the Invest to Protect Act, in honor of National Police Week. Congressman Valadao is an original co-sponsor of bill, which would establish a grant program through the Department of Justice to fund training for de-escalation, domestic violence, and officer safety to departments with less than 200 officers.

“We need to make sure our police departments in the Central Valley have enough funding to properly recruit, train, and provide resources for their officers,” said Congressman Valadao. “I’m proud to support the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to equip our officers with the tools they need to keep themselves and our communities safe. I urge Speaker Pelosi to bring this vital piece of legislation to the floor for an immediate vote.”
