"I’m proud to cosponsor legislation that would invest dollars into giving the men and women who keep our communities safe the resources they need to do their job."
WASHINGTON — Yesterday, Congressman David G. Valadao cosponsored H.R. 6448, the Invest to Protect Act of 2022. This bill would establish a grant program through the Department of Justice to fund training for de-escalation, domestic violence, and officer safety to local police departments in municipalities with less than 200 police officers. This bill also provides grants for body camera equipment and storage and for mental health services, treatments, and therapy for police officers of those small communities.
“I have always been a strong supporter of law enforcement,” said Congressman Valadao. “Police departments in small communities, like many in the Central Valley, struggle to have enough funding to properly recruit, train, and provide resources for their officers. I’m proud to cosponsor legislation that would invest dollars into giving the men and women who keep our communities safe the resources they need to do their job.”
