Today, Congressman David G. Valadao was sworn in as the representative for California’s 22nd Congressional District in the 118th Congress. Rep. Valadao previously represented the 21st Congressional District, but due to redistricting now represents California’s 22nd Congressional District. This is the Congressman’s fifth term serving in the House of Representatives.

Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) joined U.S. Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04), and Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24) to announce a bipartisan farm worker visa reform package. The bill, the Affordable and Secure Food Act, reforms the H-2A temporary agricultural worker program to provide stability for farm workers, farmers, and our nation’s food supply.

Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) joined Congresswoman Connie Conway (CA-22) to introduce the Yosemite National Park Equal Access and Fairness Act. This bill amends the Raker Act and requires the city of San Francisco to pay a fair price for the water they obtain from Hetch Hetchy Valley, opens Hetch Hetchy for recreational activities, and requires the National Park Service to study a fair recreation and pricing structure for the use of Hetch Hetchy Valley.

The lawmakers met with water agencies and stakeholders from Fresno to Bakersfield to discuss California’s water delivery systems, water storage capacity, and burdensome regulations that make it increasingly difficult for agricultural producers and rural communities to access water.
