Valadao Announces USDA Funding for Sites Reservoir

Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) announced a $449 million loan administered by the the U.S. Department of Agriculture to Sites Reservoir Project Authority. Funds will be used to build the interconnection facilities to move water in and out of Sites Reservoir.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) announced a $449 million loan administered by the the U.S. Department of Agriculture to Sites Reservoir Project Authority. Funds will be used to build the interconnection facilities to move water in and out of Sites Reservoir.

Joined by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, U.S. Congressmen Doug LaMalfa and Jeff Denham, and Assemblyman James Gallagher, Congressman David G. Valadao issued the following statement:

"Since I was elected I have fought to ensure Californians across the State have access to a clean, reliable water supply. Part of that solution includes the completion of the Sites Reservoir which I have always worked to ensure funding for the project was included in Appropriations legislation passed by the House of Representatives. Today's announcement from USDA will help ensure the completion of this critical project."

Since being elected, Congressman David G. Valadao has introduced five separate pieces of legislation to improve water availability in the western United States. In the 115th Congress, Congressman Valadao introduced and passed through the U.S. House of Representatives, H.R. 23, the Gaining Responsibility on Water (GROW) Act which aims to expand our water infrastructure and allow for more water conveyance while protecting the water rights of users across the state. Most recently, Congressman Valadao worked with the Administration to move forward with Executive Actions to expedite biological opinions for the Central Valley Project and the California State Water Project in California and, as a result, ensure a a reliable water supply for Central Valley farms and families.

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District of California, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
