2023 by the Numbers

Ensuring the Central Valley has a seat at the table in Congress has always been my top priority. This year, I’m proud of the work my team and I have done to help constituents navigate federal agencies, support legislation to improve the lives of Valley residents, and meet with thousands of residents and community groups. This year, Team Valadao:

  • Returned $21,032,160 back to constituents from federal agencies
  • Resolved 477 constituent cases with federal agencies
  • Co-sponsored 259 pieces of legislation
  • Sent 12,293 constituent response letters

Supporting Legislation to Help the Valley

As your voice in the House of Representatives, introducing and supporting legislation that has a direct impact on the Central Valley is one of my top priorities. This year, I’m proud to have introduced 11 pieces of legislation to address critical issues like bringing more water to the Valley, giving firefighters better tools to combat wildfires, and boosting domestic energy production.

I have also signed onto 259 bills as a co-sponsor - 80% of those bills are bipartisan, which means they’re supported by both Republicans and Democrats. I’ll continue supporting commonsense legislation that helps CA-22.

Some of the legislation I’ve introduced this year includes:

  • H.R. 215 – the WATER for California Act
  • H.R. 3389 – the Emergency Wildfire Fighting Technology Act
  • H.R. 1430 – the Determination of NEPA Adequacy Streamlining Act
  • H.R. 6125 – the Online Dating Safety Act of 2023
  • H.R. 5061 – the Specialty Crop Domestic Market Promotion and Development Program Act

Helping Constituents Cut Through Red Tape

Each year, my office helps hundreds of constituents who are having trouble with a federal agency.  In 2023, my office returned more than $21,000,000 that constituents were owed from different federal agencies, including the Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, and more.

Trying to get an answer from the federal government can often be a time-consuming and frustrating process. If you ever need help navigating a federal agency, you can visit my website here or call my Hanford office at (559) 460-6070. My team is ready to assist you!

Welcoming Constituents to the Capitol

This year, my office welcomed more than 1,400 Valley residents and students to the U.S. Capitol for a tour - including hosting 4 Honor Flights for our Central Valley veterans. Meeting Valley families here in Washington is one of the best parts of my job, and it's been great meeting so many of you this year.

If you are planning a trip to Washington D.C. and are interested in touring the Capitol, visit my website here or call my office at (202) 225-4695.

Connecting DC and the Valley

This year, I was grateful for the opportunity to host 2 House Committees in the Central Valley. In February, bipartisan members of the House Agriculture Committee visited CA-22 to hold a Farm Bill Listening Session at the World Ag Expo. This hearing gave Valley farmers, producers, and growers a chance to have direct input on the Farm Bill, which has a major impact on our community.

We also had the House Natural Resources Committee visit earlier this year to hold a field hearing on my bill, the WATER for California Act. While they were in the Valley, we also toured the Friant Dam and saw the impacts of the winter flooding on our community.

Answering Your Questions

This year, I hosted 5 Telephone Town Halls and had 11,128 constituents join these events. Every time I hold a tele-town hall, my office calls an average of 30,000 households across CA-22 inviting residents to join and share their thoughts on the issues facing our community. These calls give me a chance to answer your questions directly and help me better represent you in Congress. Make sure to sign up for my weekly newsletter so you don’t miss my first town hall of 2024.

Not able to join a town hall but still want to ask me a question? Visit my website and send me an email! I've responded to more than 12,000 constituents who wrote in this year on a wide range of issues. I look forward to continuing to address your concerns in the new year.
