WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the White House published President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2017 Budget request. U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement in response to the President’s proposal:

“Similar to previous requests, the President’s FY2017 budget increases federal spending by $2.5 trillion dollars and increases taxes on hardworking Americans by $3.4 trillion over the next ten years.

“As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, it is important to me that we do not allow the federal government to continue this pattern of out-of-control spending. It is now the responsibility of Congress to analyze the President’s request and our nation’s spending priorities. In fact, the House Appropriations Committee will hold its first budgetary hearing this morning.

“Like every American family, the federal government must live within its means. Republicans and Democrats must work together to make responsible decisions to protect America’s future."

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
