This week, Team Valadao met with Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner Christopher Greer to discuss the responsibilities of his office and the work being done to support communities across the district. The team also met with Tulare Fire Chief Ott for a tour of the firehouse and received updates on local public safety priorities. My staff also met with the City of Tulare Public Works Director Trisha Whitfield to discuss funding opportunities and ways my office can assist with community projects. Later, the team attended the Mid-Kings River Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) meeting to receive an update on their subbasin plan before touring the Kings County Superior Court to learn more about court operations and services provided to residents.
Later in the week, my staff attended the CAPK Foundation’s 3rd Annual Gourmet for Good Event, the Lamont Park groundbreaking ceremony, and the grand opening of the Nestlé Arvin Distribution Center. The team also met with Arvin City Manager Jeff Jones, Arvin Community Services District General Manager Raul Barraza, and Golden Empire Transit District CEO Chris James to discuss local priorities and opportunities to support the community. They also attended the grand opening of Bentley Bowl’s new kitchen and the Yelp Block Party celebrating downtown Bakersfield businesses, where they presented Certificates of Recognition.
The team later attended the Tulare County Association of Realtors’ legislative update on solar panel ownership and housing shortages. They also met with representatives from City of Hope to discuss their work in the district, including research and treatment efforts focused on cancer and diabetes. At Central California Legal Services’ 60th Anniversary Celebration, my staff presented a Certificate of Recognition honoring their service to the community. To close out the week, the team attended the Tulare Rotary Flagpole Dedication and presented another Certificate of Recognition.
