On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we remember the thousands of lives taken too soon and honor the heroic first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice. That horrific day exposed our nation to unimaginable evil, but it also showed the strength and resolve of the American spirit. We will never forget the lives that were lost and those who died trying to save them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Service Academy Information Night on Wednesday! It was great to meet students from across the Valley and welcome representatives from our nation's military academies. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the programs each academy offers, ask questions, and hear about what it takes to serve and succeed.
If you or someone you know is interested in attending a military service academy or would like to learn more, visit my website here.

Our Central Valley tomato growers and processors work hard to provide a safe, high-quality product, and they shouldn’t have to compete with foreign imports that are mislabeled or misrepresented. In recent years, low-quality tomatoes grown in China have been found in products like tomato paste, allowing bad actors to skirt U.S. trade and forced-labor laws and making it harder for consumers to know what they’re buying. That’s why I was proud to introduce the bipartisan ROMA Act this week, which would give USDA and Customs and Border Protection a science-based tool to verify the origin of imported tomato products and better enforce the laws already on the books. This is a commonsense solution that will close a gap in our current system, protect the integrity of our agricultural supply chain, and ensure consumers know what they’re buying.

This week, I met with local representatives from the American Soybean Association (ASA) to discuss the issues affecting our soybean industry. We spoke about the Farm Bill, the importance of biofuels, and the global soybean marketplace. I appreciated hearing their perspectives and look forward to our continued conversations.

This week, I had the chance to sit down with Blake Zante, Executive Director of the Maddy Institute, for a great conversation about the policies shaping the Central Valley. Talks like these highlight what the Maddy Institute is all about: fostering bipartisan dialogue and encouraging civic engagement. Keep an eye out for my interview which goes live on their YouTube channel soon!

Valadao’s bipartisan bill targets illegal imports of foreign-grown tomatoes To help keep low-quality foreign produce from being illegally sold in America, U.S. Rep. David Valadao (R-CA) on Sept. 8 sponsored a bipartisan bill that aims to crack down on mislabeled imported tomato products by allowing the federal government to use isotopic testing to verify the country where tomatoes were grown. Evans, Salazar, Valadao unveil bill to report on SBA’s Spanish resources
Because the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) removed certain Spanish-language materials from its website in December 2025, several Republicans have introduced a bipartisan bill that would establish a clear, public accounting of the resources SBA currently provides and to ensure Congress has the information necessary to conduct effective oversight.
