Congratulations to the Sierra Pacific Girls Basketball Team on bringing home the CIF State Division II Championship trophy! These student athletes put in long hours, battled through adversity, and continued to push themselves to be better every single day, and their hard work this season has more than paid off. From becoming back-to-back CIF Central Section Division 2 champions to winning the state championship, these girls have shown what’s possible through teamwork, discipline, and grit. Congratulations, Lady Bears! I look forward to what future seasons have in store for you all.

After nearly a year of work, I’m proud to announce California will receive $540 million to support critical storage and conveyance projects across the state—the most significant water investment California has ever seen! These funds, which my California Republican colleagues and I secured through the Working Families Tax Cut, will restore capacity, strengthen reliability, and improve our ability to capture and deliver water supplies. I appreciate the Trump Administration’s efforts to ensure these resources reach the communities that need them most, and I look forward to continuing to work together to deliver a stable and secure water supply for California's 22nd Congressional District.

Human trafficking is a devastating crime that preys on the most vulnerable in our communities, and while there’s no single solution, there are steps we can take to fight back. That’s why I’m proud to launch the Combating Human Trafficking Congressional Caucus! This bipartisan group of members is committed to advancing bills and initiatives that raise awareness of human trafficking, strengthen prevention and prosecution efforts, hold traffickers accountable, and protect human trafficking victims. Sadly, this horrific crime has impacted the Central Valley and our country for far too long, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to confront this crisis head on.

California’s Giant Sequoias are a national treasure, and here in the Central Valley, we’re lucky enough to have them right in our own backyard. Since 2015, devastating fires have caused unprecedented destruction, and in just the last few years, nearly one-fifth of all Giant Sequoias have been lost. Without urgent action, we risk losing countless more. That’s why I was proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Save Our Sequoias Act and vote to pass the bill this week. This bipartisan legislation includes real reforms to forest management and equips our federal land managers with the tools needed to save these trees from the threat of wildfires. I’m proud to be a part of this effort to save one of the most recognizable symbols of California for future generations.

California is no stranger to devastating wildfires, and we need every tool available to better manage our forests and reduce this growing threat. That's why I was proud to introduce the Long-Term Good Neighbor Authority Act alongside Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-19). This bipartisan bill extends the Good Neighbor Authority program from 10 years to 20 years to allow the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to partner with state, tribal, and local partners to address wildfire risk and improve forest health. By strengthening long-term collaboration, we can take a more proactive approach to forest management to better protect our communities for the future.

I had a great meeting this week with Western United Dairies. We spoke about important issues facing the California dairy industry, including labor shortages, international trade, environmental policies, and the upcoming Farm Bill. As the only dairy farmer in Congress, I’m proud to represent Central Valley dairymen and have important conversations like these with future leaders in the dairy industry.

Then, they met with medical equipment provider NuSolutions Inc. to address distribution challenges affecting patient access to critical equipment. Staff also attended the Water Blueprint Board meeting to stay informed on local water priorities and ongoing projects. Afterwards, the team met with Tulare County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children and the Kings County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council to learn more about their work supporting foster youth and to discuss upcoming efforts for National Child Abuse Awareness Month.
Later, Team Valadao toured the Neighborhood Village during their meeting with Salt + Light, a new housing development for lower-income families. My staff also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Mi Studios and presented a Certification of Recognition for their grand opening. They later joined Kern County Public Works in celebrating Kymberly Baldwin for her 35 years of service and presented a letter of recognition on my behalf. Team Valadao also met with the Kings County Fire Chief and Sheriff to discuss ongoing public safety efforts and attended the Kern County Farm Bureau Board meeting to present a Certificate of Recognition for National Agriculture Week.
To close out the week, Team Valadao joined community leaders at the Bakersfield Government Review Council meeting to receive updates on aviation efforts in Kern.
