Dear [firstname], Recent storms and flooding in California have caused damage to property, infrastructure, and agricultural production throughout our community. Thank you to the first responders, utility workers, and Caltrans employees who have been working around the clock to keep people safe during these storms. In order for additional federal resources to be made available to our state, the Governor’s office has to accurately report the damages these storms have caused. California Office of Emergency Services is required to justify a request for additional federal support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency by presenting the reported costs and losses that the public reports. If you have experienced weather-related damages or losses during these storms, it is critical to report them to your respective counties. I am grateful to the Biden administration for approving the emergency declaration for our state to make additional federal resources available to the communities impacted by these storms. I am currently working with my fellow California congressional colleagues and the Governor’s office to ensure California has the federal resources necessary to assist in state and local recovery efforts.
