Talking Essential Programs and Budget with 23ABC News

Earlier this week, I sat down with 23ABC News to talk about the federal budget and the need to protect essential programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. For many living in the Central Valley, essential programs like Medicaid mean they have access to healthcare, and balancing a federal budget can't come at their expense.These programs are vital, and I've made it clear I won't support any final reconciliation bill that reduces coverage for our vulnerable populations.

Discussing Pro-Growth Tax Policies with the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce

On Tuesday, I joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Bakersfield for a roundtable discussion on tax policy and small business in the Central Valley. We spoke about the importance of reauthorizing pro-growth policies so that local businesses can grow, create more good-paying jobs, and allow families to keep more of their hard-earned money. This makes a real impact on our region, and I remain committed to supporting a tax code that encourages economic growth across California's 22nd District.

Visiting the Rexford Site and Discussing Renewable Energy

This week, I visited AES' Rexford Site and joined a panel discussion of the future of renewable energy and what that means for Tulare County. We talked about how investments in clean energy infrastructure, grid modernization, and workforce training can help grow our economy and lower energy costs for consumers. It's encouraging to see companies like AES working closely with our local community to bring American-made energy to the Central Valley.

Touring the Alpaugh Storage Site

On Monday, I had the opportunity to tour RWE's Alpaugh storage site and see the progress they're making on expanding solar and battery storage in the Central Valley. We had a great conversation about how projects like these help lower energy costs, improve reliability, and support job growth in rural communities. I appreciate the work they're doing and look forward to seeing how this continued investment will positively impact our region.

Hosting Service Academy Night

We had a great turnout in Hanford for our Service Academy Information Night, where students and parents heard directly from representatives of our nation's military academies. It's always encouraging to meet young people from the Valley who are interested in serving their country and exploring the unique leadership and educational opportunities these schools provide. They asked great questions and showed real enthusiasm, and I'm proud to support them as they consider the options for their future.

Discussing Medicaid with Central Valley Health Network

I met with the Central Valley Health Network this week to discuss how important Medicaid is to their operations and to the families they serve. For many rural regions, community health centers are one of the main providers, and they rely heavily on stable funding from Medicaid to keep their doors open. Continued investment in rural health infrastructure is crucial, and I remain committed to making sure families in every part of the Central Valley have access to the care they need.

Team Valadao in the Valley

This week, Team Valadao was out in California's 22nd Congressional District connecting with our community. My staff attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Wasco Police Activities League Facility and celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Wasco Police Department. The Wasco community has worked hard to strengthen public safety, and this new facility will give local youth a positive space to learn and build trust with our law enforcement officers. Team Valadao also attended the 35th annual Bakersfield Women's Business Conference, where they met local entrepreneurs who are making a real impact on the Central Valley.
