U.S Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) today announced that he has been selected to serve on the House-Senate Conference Committee responsible for reconciling the differences between the House and Senate passed Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bills.

l and H.R. 5243, the Zika Response Appropriations Act
were passed by the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support. The same week, the Senate voted to approve a spending package, H.R. 2577, which included the FY2017 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, (THUD) Appropriations Act
, the FY2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs
(MilCon-VA) Appropriations Act
, and funding for the Zika Virus response.

I look forward to working with both Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate to find compromise between both Chambers legislation, so we may get this bill signed into law as quickly as possible," stated Congressman Valadao. I am committed to ensuring that our servicemen and women are taken care of when they return home.”

Background: Rep. Valadao is a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Military Contraction and Veterans Affairs. Through the MilCon-VA Appropriations Bill, Congress authorizes funds to house, train, and quip military personal, provide housing and services to military families, maintain base infrastructure, and support veterans’ benefit programs.
