WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) voted in support of H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act, legislation intended to speed the delivery of life-saving drugs, devices, and treatments to patients across America.

Following the vote, Rep. Valadao issued the following statement:

“Every family in America has been affected by cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, heart disease or other life-altering diseases in one way or another. The 21st Century Cures Act is a bipartisan, innovative approach that will modernize and streamline the American healthcare system.”

“Today, there are over 10,000 known diseases and despite our medical advances, we only have treatments for 500 of those diseases. America can do better than that. While we should improve treatments for these diseases, our long-term goal should be finding cures. The 21st Century Cures Act is a major step in that direction.”

H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act passed in the House of Representatives on Thursday, July 9, 2015 by a vote of 344–77.
