Rep. Valadao Announces 2015 Art Competition Winners

This evening, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) announced the winners of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition for the 21st Congressional District.

ashington – This evening, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) announced the winners of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition for the 21st Congressional District. 

The following is a list of this year’s winners:

• First Place: Alyssa Garza from South High School
• Second Place: Racquelle Justo from Hanford West High School
• Third Place: Alyy Howell from Sanger High School

Congressman Valadao made the announcement at a Congressional Art Competition Reception held in his Hanford office. The winning artist’s work will be displayed for one year in the national exhibition located in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.

“I am excited to host the competition reception for the 21st Congressional District for the third time. We are pleased to share the artistic abilities of the Central Valley with the rest of the Nation,”Congressman Valadao said in a statement.

He continued,“With millions of visitors at the Capitol each year, Ms. Alyssa Garza’s wonderful art will have quiet the audience as she so deserves.”

The Congressional Art Competition was created in 1982, and hundreds of thousands of high school students throughout the country have participated throughout the years. One winner is chosen from each participating Congressional district and also receives a roundtrip ticket to Washington, DC to see their artwork on display. 

The second place winner will have their artwork displayed in Congressman Valadao’s Washington office and the third place winner will have their artwork displayed in his Hanford office. 

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District of California, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
