WASHINGTON — U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (R-CA) released the following statement in recognition of National Police Week:

"National Police Week provides us with a reminder of the immense sacrifice our law enforcement agents make every day. These brave men and women represent the best America has to offer. They stand in the path of danger to keep our families and communities safe, often putting their lives on the line. I hold immense respect for these men and women; their patriotism and courage is inspirational for us all. As the nation observes 'Police Week,' I want to recognize and offer my deepest gratitude for all that they do to keep our Central Valley community safe."

In 2016 in California, twelve law enforcement officers lost their lives in the line of duty including Sergeant Rod Barron Lucas from Fresno and Deputy Sheriff Scott Alfred Ballantyne from Visalia.

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District of California, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
