Community Resource Fair

Congressman Valadao his hosting an exciting Community Resource Fair. At the event, attendees will learn more about free services and programs available to them such as tax preparation assistance, health care, food assistance, and even childcare. Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) representatives will be present to give even more information about the critical programs below!

Critical Community Programs and Resources 

VITA: Offers free tax preparation for low and medium income individuals and families. VITA also assists eligible clients to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), increasing the amount of their tax return. All VITA services are provided through trained IRS-certified staff and community volunteers. Appointment based only.

WIC: Provides education, breast feeding support, and food vouchers for families and infants, children up to 5 years old, and women who are pregnant, postpartum, or breast feeding.

2-1-1 Kern: An around-the-clock information and referral service that provides local residents with comprehensive information and linkage to community health and human services at no cost.

Food Bank: Provides food and assistance to low income families and individuals.

Energy: Assists income eligible Kern County residents with utility bill payment, free weatherization, and energy education, at no cost to the participant.

Head Start: Provides high quality, early childhood education to children from pre-natal to five years old through part-day, full-day and home-based options.
